ClickFunnels vs LeadPages – Which is Better For Your Business?

ClickFunnels and LeadPages are two of the most popular landing page builders in the market today.

While they are not exactly the same in terms of functionality, they do have have some overlap in what they can do.

So on this page, I’m going to do a direct ClickFunnels vs LeadPages comparison so you can figure out which service is right for your business. You’ll learn the pros and cons of each service, and get a thorough understanding of which service to pick.

Here is what we’re going to cover on this page:

Intro to both ClickFunnels and LeadPages

ClickFunnels is the brainchild of marketing genius, Russell Brunson and was launched in 2015. ClickFunnels is more than a landing page builder. It’s actually designed for building full blown, multi-page sales funnels. You can use it to collect emails, sell products and services, and maximize your revenue through order bumps, upsells and downsells.

LeadPages was launched in 2012 by Clay Collins. It is more focused on helping you collect leads. You can use it to create LeadBoxes, which are optin popups on your website and for building full blown landing pages as well. It also has a feature called LeadDigits which lets you collect leads via text pages.

Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels feature a drag and drop editor that you can use to build your pages without having to code. It’s not a pixel perfect editor like Instapage, but they are both fairly easy to use.

Why You Should Pick ClickFunnels over LeadPages

ClickFunnels allows you to create sales funnels

With ClickFunnels you create single page landing pages like LeadPages. But you can also create full blown sales funnels as well. One type of sales funnel might look like this:

Optin Funnel

This lets you collect an email address, make a front end sale and multiple back end sales from a single funnel.

By allowing you to create a value ladder, you can make your offer more and more valuable. Which can be the difference between a profitable and unprofitable paid traffic campaign.

ClickFunnels gives you access to 22 different funnel types, or you can start from scratch and build your own.

LeadPages cannot do this as you’re limited to a single page funnel and a thank you page.

ClickFunnels allows you to share funnels

Another great feature of ClickFunnels is the ability to share any funnel in your account. Inside any funnel, you can grab its unique share funnel url and give it to someone else. If that person has a ClickFunnels account, then it will be immediately added in their account for them to use.

But if the user doesn’t have a ClickFunnels account then it will give them a preview of your funnel and allow them to start their 14 day free trial of ClickFunnels. What’s great about this, is that if they do sign up, then that user will become your ClickFunnels referral and you will get the 40% affiliate commission if they stay on past the free trial.

This is an amazing feature that opens up a whole new realm of possibilities when promoting ClickFunnels as an affiliate.

You can now use your highest converting funnels as lead magnets or bonuses. Or you could create an entire course using a membership funnel and white-label it by giving people your share url.

ClickFunnels has an amazing Affiliate Program

ClickFunnels has hands down the best affiliate program I’ve seen from any marketing tool. First, you get 40% up-front commissions and 5% 2nd tier commissions. There’s also the sticky cookie which means if someone buys ANY product in the ClickFunnels ecosystem, you’ll get credit for all future commissions if they buy something else.

For example, lets say you are promoting the DotComSecrets book, which is a free + shipping offer. If someone purchases the book, you’ll get credit for it plus any upsells they buy. And if after reading the book, they decide to purchase ClickFunnels then you get that commission too.

There are also bigger offers on top of ClickFunnels that give you even larger commissions. This includes Funnel Hacks ($398/sale) and Funnel Builder Secrets ($798/sale).

Finally ClickFunnels has this really cool Dream Car affiliate contest. If you refer 100 active CF affiliates, then ClickFunnels will give you an extra $500 bonus towards the lease of your dream car. And if you hit 200 active CF affiliates then they’ll pay you $1000 towards the car.

LeadPages on the other hand has a fairly standard affiliate program. It’s hosted on Impact and you’ll get 30% recurring commissions.

Occasionally they’ll run some affiliate contests, but they haven’t for awhile. It’s not a bad affiliate program for sure, but it can’t match what ClickFunnels offers.

It has the way bigger and more active community

One of the best parts of ClickFunnels is how big the community is. Russell has created a marketing machine, with ClickFunnels at the center of it all. The official ClickFunnels FB group currently has over 195k members while the ClickFunnels Avengers group has over 56k members.

And these are just the official groups. There are so many other valuable FB groups started by other ClickFunnels members that are filled with some amazing content.

What’s special about these groups is that you can see how people are passionate about ClickFunnels. They’ve built their businesses around it and they love it. And if you need help, these are the places where you can ask questions and get help really fast.

Here are a few groups I recommend joining:

Affiliate Profits Mastermind (My group)
Automation Nation (Spencer Mecham’s Group)
Affiliate Marketing Hacks For Entrepeneurs (Catlin Bettridge’s Group)

Compare this to LeadPages which has 17k members in their official group and 900 members in their affiliate group. There’s definitely action going on insides and it’s a good channel for support as well. But LeadPages members are definitely not as passionate as ClickFunnels members are.

Other ClickFunnels Advantages

Here some other things that ClickFunnels can do that LeadPages cannot.

  • Create survey landing pages.
  • Create membership sites.
  • Start your own affiliate program with BackPack.
  • Replace your existing email service using Actionetics.

Why You Should Pick LeadPages over ClickFunnels

LeadPages has better templates

This is subjective, but I really like the templates that LeadPages includes. They make great starting points for any landing page you might want to create. At this time, there are over 160 templates to choose from, including templates for specific niches like Fitness, Photography, Real Estate and Travel.

ClickFunnels has a decent number of templates as well. But the designs are all kind of similar in style I personally don’t feel they are as varied as the LeadPages templates.

LeadPages doesn’t have limits on views and funnels

LeadPages has no limits whatsover in terms of the number of landing pages you can create or traffic you can send to them. This is really nice, because you can stay on whatever plan you’re on, even as you grow.

ClickFunnels on the other hand does have limits to its standard $97/month plan. On this plan you’re limited to creating 20 funnels, 100 pages and 20,000 visitors.

If you’re selling a couple of products, this might not be a big deal. But if you’re promoting ClickFunnels as an affiliate then you’re probably going to accumulate a bunch of share funnels in your account and you’re going to hit that 20 funnel limit pretty fast.

In that case, you’re going to be forced to upgrade to the $297/month Etison suite plan.

LeadPages has a simpler learning curve

In my experience, LeadPages is easier to learn than ClickFunnels. This is to be expected since ClickFunnels has a lot more things you can do with it.

LeadPages instead focuses on doing fewer things well and does a nice job with that. The interface is nice to use, and easy to navigate.

The ClickFunnels interface is a bit busier. For a newbie, this might be a little confusing. Fortunately ClickFunnels does have a really good onboarding process to go through to get you up to speed with the software.

LeadPages is better for collecting leads [with LeadBoxes and LeadDigits]

If you just want to collect email addresses only (and not sell anything), then LeadPages is better for this. Their LeadBoxes feature makes it super simple to add popup opt-in boxes to your website. ClickFunnels can’t do that.

LeadPages also has a feature called LeadDigits. This lets you give people a number to text, and it will add them to your list. This is especially useful if you’re doing offline advertising like at conferences and tradeshows.

And finally LeadPages has built in Calendly support. So you can schedule appointments directly from your landing pages.

ClickFunnels can help you collect email addresses through the use of optin forms. But it’s all in the context of creating a sales funnel. It’s not ClickFunnels’ sole focus.

Here some other things that LeadPages can do that ClickFunnels cannot.

  • LeadLinks allows you to add links to your emails that automatically opt-in people who click to your lists
  • Create FB Ads with the integrated Facebook Ad Builder
  • Add sub accounts

ClickFunnels vs LeadPages Pricing

Price wise, LeadPages is much more affordable than ClickFunnels. The Standard LeadPages plan starts at $37 a month and you get everything you need to start collecting leads. The things missing from the Standard plan are the ability to sell things via the checkout widget, split testing, LeadDigits and LeadLinks.

To get those missing feature you’ll have to upgrade to the Pro LeadPages plan ($79/mo).

LeadPages also aggressively discounts their annual and 2-year plans, so if you’re willing to pay upfront, you can save even more money.

ClickFunnels on the other hand starts at $97/mo. However, you there are limits to the number of funnels you can create and traffic you can send on this plan. And you won’t get access to Backpack or Actionetics.

To get all these, you’ll need to upgrade to the Etison Suite plan which is $297 a month.  If you go that route, don’t pay monthly.  Instead get the $997 Funnel Hacks offer to save the most on this plan.

There is also a little known ClickFunnels share funnel plan you can access for $19/mo. But it’s limited to 3 funnels and you can’t do too much with it.

Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels offer 14-day free trial so you can thoroughly test them out before you actually have to pay for them.

Final Thoughts

If you want to collect leads and make sales, then both LeadPages and ClickFunnels can both help you with this. But which software is a better fit for you, depends on your specific business needs.

If all you care about is collecting leads and making one off sales, then LeadPages is probably a good choice. It’s easy to learn at a more affordable price than ClickFunnels.

However, if you want to make full blown sales funnels that really try to maximize your profits per customer, then ClickFunnels should be your choice. It’s a lot more powerful software than LeadPages and can do a lot more for your business.

And if you’re an affiliate marketer? Then ClickFunnels is the winner hands down. There’s much more potential to be made as a ClickFunnels affiliate.

People have made entire businesses out of promoting ClickFunnels as an affiliate. I’m not sure you can say the same about LeadPages.
