Amazing Selling Machine (ASM12) Review: Will it Work For Me?

My biggest success online so far has been the Amazon FBA business that I created with my partner.

We started selling a line of fitness related products on Amazon in the beginning of 2016.

With some hard work (and luck), we managed to hit the $1 million revenue mark by the end of that year.

And in 2020, we’ve hit $1 million a month in sales, despite a global pandemic going on.

tl;dr Summary
The Amazing Selling Machine 12 is the best training course and community I’ve seen for learning how to create a successful Amazon FBA business.
Visit the website

It’s not just us who are having success with Amazon FBA. There are many, many sellers who are making a killing selling physical products on Amazon.

But conversely, there’s just as many who fail as well.

There are a LOT of steps just to get your product listed on Amazon. And even more steps after that to sell enough to become profitable.

If you search around, you will find that there’s some decent content out there on how to start an Amazon FBA business.

But for many of you, it’s a big hassle to sift through all the good info and the bad. You just want to follow proven, working techniques that you know others are currently having success with.

And that’s where the Amazing Selling Machine 12 comes in.

This is the most comprehensive Amazon FBA training I’ve seen and I’m going to be giving you a breakdown of what’s in the course, and whether you should invest your hard-earned money into it.

Here’s what I’m going to be covering in this Amazing Selling Machine 12 review.

If you’re ready to sign up with ASM 12 already, you can scroll to the bottom and see what I’m offering as part of my ASM 12 Bonus Package.

What is the Amazing Selling Machine?

The Amazing Selling Machine 12 is a course created by Jason Katzenback and Matt Clark and taught by two instructors, Mike McClary and Rich Henderson.

The course has been regularly updated over the years and has evolved along with Amazon. I first heard about ASM5 way back in 2015, while the next version, ASM12 just opened its doors on June 11th, 2020.

Existing members of ASM have generated over 8.6 billion in revenue* in their Amazon FBA businesses according to the last survey they did. That’s amazing!

Every iteration of ASM is refreshed with new content that reflects the latest changes on Amazon. ASM12 goes a step farther and is rebuilt from the ground up and is 100% new compared to ASM 11.

That means it has been completed updated to include the latest strategies, tactics, tools, and resources for starting up an Amazon FBA business fast.

Here are some of the new things that are a part of Amazing Selling Machine 12:

  • Completely re-done 8 module web class. Over 120 video lessons that walk you step by step on how to create an Amazon FBA business from scratch and making sales.
  • Brand new set of 8 weekly coaching calls. These live coaching calls are one of the highlights of the Amazing Selling Machine 12 program. The calls are hosted by Mike McClary and Rich Henderson and it’s your chance to get all your questions answered.
  • Streamlined product selection method. An easy to implement strategy for selecting profitable products to sell…thus overcoming the biggest barrier to getting started with Amazon FBA.
  • 4 Brand New Software Tools. One of these includes a product analyzer that helps clients compile a list of low competition, highly profitable products in minutes.
  • New Amazon ranking strategies. Learn the Amazon search engine strategies that are working right now to get high rankings for your best keywords.

Amazing Selling Machine 11 dashboard

The current course consists of 8 different modules. Each module is broken down into easy to digest lessons (153 in all in ASM11) and there are over 30 hours of content to go through.

There’s also a weekly coaching call at the end of each module. If you get in during the launch, you’ll be able to participate live. Otherwise, the recordings will be available inside the membership area for you to listen to at your convenience.

Each of the video lessons are typically a mix of PowerPoint presentation and screen sharing live demos.

You also get access to the very active ASM community forum that’s inside the site and an external Facebook group as well.

In the forum, you can get help from both regular ASM members and the ASM mentors, who are volunteer members who have done over $1 million in Amazon FBA sales.

The course starts from the very beginning, so even if you don’t know the first thing about selling on Amazon, you will eventually learn everything you need to create a successful Amazon FBA brand from the course.

My personal journey with the Amazing Selling Machine

To be totally transparent, our Amazon FBA business was already quite successful before I ever signed up for the Amazing Selling Machine course. I remember hearing about it in the early days, but it was closed at the time. Plus the high sticker price turned me off at the time.

But I finally ended up signing up for ASM8 during the October 2017 launch.

By then our business was making enough money that the price of the course seemed like a reasonable investment. If I could just learn a few new strategies or tactics that could take our business to the next level, then the course would be worth it.

I’ve been through all the materials a few times now and I’m always really impressed by the content. I especially found the sections on optimizing our Amazon listings and Sponsored ads to be really helpful in our business.

We spent over $350k in sponsored ads in 2019 and the improvements I’ve been able to make to the way we handle our ads, and improving the conversion rate of our listing has made a huge difference in ROI.

2020 has been truly a strange and scary year for everyone.  Businesses are going bankrupt, and unemployment is hitting record highs.  But we are fortunate enough to be in the home fitness niche which has actually seen massive demand during this global pandemic.

Which is how we’ve surpassed $1 million a month in sales so far in 2020.

But I think the greatest value of ASM12 is getting to be part of the community. It’s so incredibly helpful to be a member of a forum that’s made up of people just starting out along with other successful sellers. Being able to get feedback, help, and tips in near whenever you need it is so invaluable.

Also hearing the stories of other successful sellers is incredibly motivating. And it gives new sellers the confidence that they can and will eventually succeed.

A look inside the Amazing Selling Machine

Welcome Module: The ASM Business Process and Mindset

The welcome module is all about getting you set up to succeed in the course. You’ll learn the mindset you need to have, and get introduced to all the benefits and features that the course has to offer.

Module 1: Building Your Product Opportunity List

Here you learn how to set up your Amazon seller account, find out what makes a good product to sell on Amazon, and pick the product you should sell.

Module 2: Suppliers, Samples & Profit Numbers

This module teaches you how to source your product from both China and the US. You’ll also learn how to get samples so you can evaluate your potential product better and decide whether or not to move forward with it.

Module 3: Ordering Your Inventory & Creating Your Brand

In this module, you’ll learn how to create a great brand name, how to design your packaging, and how to get your inventory into Amazon itself so you can start selling.

Module 4: Building Your Brand Assets

This module is all about building your brand’s website and setting up all your social media profiles for success.

Module 5: The Perfect Product Page

A great Amazon listing is so important in making your product a success. Here you’ll be introduced to the 8 components of the perfect product page.

Module 6: The Perfect Product Launch

Once your product goes live, you want to get as much traffic as possible to your listing. In this module, you’ll learn the ASM product launch ranking strategy that will help you make your first sales and get some initial reviews.

Module 7: Advanced Marketing and Traffic Tools

Here you’ll learn how to use Amazon sponsored ads to get more traffic and learn how to create a raving customer service system to keep your customers happy.  You’ll also see how to leverage Amazon coupons and Lightning deals to watch your sales take off.

Module 8: Taking your Business to the Next Level

This is the last module, and it’s where you’ll learn to scale your business and increase revenues. You’ll see how to use the Amazon Brand registry and the power of Brand Analytics.   You’ll discover the power of Youtube ads, how to work with influencers, and leverage Instagram to help you make more sales.

Private Resource Vault

The private resource vault is where you can download PDFs related to each video lesson of the course.  After you’ve watched a particular lesson, it’s helpful to download the associated PDF and keep it as a reference as you try to implement what you learned.

Besides the PDFs, you’ll also find other relevant downloads that may have been mentioned in a particular lesson, like the various templates that they talk about.

The vault also contains Resource Links to the best services and tools, the ASM team has found useful in their businesses.   There are some good tools in here, but I wasn’t too impressed by this area because it seems like some of the companies mentioned here are only listed because they are offering a special deal for members.

ASM 12 Pricing

ASM12 is being offered for a $4,997 one time fee. They also have a payment plan option which is 6 payments of $997 each.

This is the same price as ASM11 was and there hasn’t been an increase in price since it jumped $1,002 for ASM X.

There are no ASM discounts or coupon codes available as far as I can tell.  But they do have special members-only deals for some of the services you need like JungleScout and ManageByStats.

If you’re interested in joining ASM, then it makes sense to join as soon as you can as that locks you into the current price point.

By doing so, you will get access to every new version of ASM as it comes out.

ASM12 also contains some of the best guarantees I’ve seen in an online course.

First, you get a full 30-day guarantee. That’s more than enough time to go through the first couple of modules, select a product and try to source it from a supplier. If you don’t feel like you can make it work, then no problem. Just request your money back.

ASM12 also features a 6-month Buy-Back Promise. What this means is that you can try and implement the teachings of the course for a full 6 months. If you don’t want to continue, then the ASM will buy your Amazon business from you for the cost of the course plus up to $5,000 worth of inventory.

So really, as long as you’re willing to put in the time and the work, the course is risk-free.

Will the ASM work for me?

That depends. The Amazing Selling Machine is definitely not for everyone.

First of all, it requires someone who is willing to take action. You need to dedicate the time to watch all the videos (a couple of hours a week), and then do the steps outlined in each one. Plus, if you are able, I would highly recommend attending the live coaching calls.

Each module in the course is designed to be completed and acted upon before moving on to the next one.

If you’re not ready to invest a chunk of money in the next couple of months to purchase samples and buy inventory, then I would definitely hold off buying the course.

It’s very important to make sure you’re ready to get started before jumping in.

To make the most out of the course, I can’t stress the importance of becoming part of the community and ask questions!

Selling on Amazon will bring its own set of challenges. You will definitely hit some roadblocks along the way.  And asking for (and getting) help is the best way to mitigate this.

The mentors and members of the community are great, and you’ll build some solid relationships along the way. This is the key reason why the Amazing Selling Machine has been such a popular course for a long time.

Finally, a big sticking point for some people will be the price. Yes, $4,997 is a lot of money. And if that’s beyond your budget, then please don’t get the course! You’ll need additional money just to get started and if you don’t have that, then you are not going to succeed, period.

Think of the cost as an investment in yourself and your business. If the course leads you to create your own successful Amazon FBA business then this money is just a drop in the bucket.

But what makes ASM standout is the extra mile they go to ensure your success with the course.  This includes:

  • Having someone on their team review your top 3 product choices and pick the best product to start with
  • Helping you find the best suppliers for your product and negotiate the best deal on your first inventory order
  • Pairing you with an accountability coach for 90 days who will outline a weekly plan for you to get done
  • Doing a personalized review of your listing to ensure that it’s perfectly optimized for success
  • Booking a 1-1 pre-launch strategy call with an ASM mentor to make sure you are ready to go

Amazing Selling Machine Alternatives

ASM 12 is certainly not the only Amazon FBA training course on the market. There’s a bunch of others out there, although I haven’t actually had a chance to take a look at them at this time.

There are also some other great resources for learning Amazon FBA, that you can use as an alternative or supplement to your ASM12 experience.

I have two podcasts that I really like. The first is Scott Voelker’s Rock Your Brand (Formerly The Amazing Seller) podcast. The podcast is dedicated to branding and Amazon FBA.  He also runs the Amazing Seller Facebook group which is a very active community.

I also like Manny Coates’ AM/PM podcast.  Manny is the owner of Helium10 and he puts out a lot of tips and strategies in his podcasts.

I recommend subscribing to both of them if you are really interested in learning more about Amazon FBA.

Final Thoughts

Creating a successful Amazon FBA business can definitely make you life-changing money.  And what’s great is that anybody can do it.  All it takes is some drive, hustle, and a little bit of startup money.  The challenge is knowing what to do, as there’s a lot of steps you need to take care of along the way.

That’s where the Amazing Selling Machine comes in.  It holds your hand step-by-step, from beginning to success.  And it provides you the motivation and guidance you need to become successful.

If you’re looking to join the lucrative world of Amazon FBA, then give the Amazing Selling Machine a shot.  I don’t think you’ll regret it.

While I know the initial investment may seem steep, with both the 30-day money-back guarantee and the 6-month buyback guarantee, you don’t have to worry about “losing your money”. You just need to be willing to put in the required work.

  • America T. says:

Thank you for this detail review of ASM. I currently have a Shopify store that is not doing well and I have spent so much resources and money on FB ads.

  • joana says:

how is this different with ASM8?

    • Chris Fong says:

Hi Joana. Basically, the difference between ASM8 and ASM9 is that all the videos were re-recorded to reflect the latest changes on Amazon. They’ve also done some cosmetic UX changes to the member area as well, and they’ve included some updated bonuses and the 6-month buyback guarantee. Hope that helps if you were considering joining.

  • Donald says:

This was a really detailed article. Thanks a lot for all the information. I stumbled across this article and ASM9 a little too late to register. Will they come out with another revised version of ASM 10 in the future? Thanks.

    • Chris Fong says:

Hey Donald. Appreciate you stopping by. I have no particular insights into their release plan, but based on their past history I’m assuming ASM9 will re-open again sometime in the future. And I’m sure there will be an ASM10 too.

  • Roksana says:

Thanks for your helpful review Chris. Have you got any insights if ASM is suitable for people from abroad? I’m European living in Asia and would still love to make it work.

    • Chris Fong says:

      Hi Roksana.

ASM definitely will work for people abroad, but it also does depend on what specific country you are living in.

If you live in a Group One country, then it will be easy for you to establish your own US Seller Central account. If you live in a Group Two country, then you’ll have to receive payments from a third party service like World First.

If you live in a Group Three country, then you’ll have a much harder time unless you have a friend or relative from a Group One country that can establish a bank account for you.

ASM provides you with the list of what countries are Group 1/2/3. Or you can tell me the specific country you are in and I can tell you.

  • Alan says:

Do you think you can follow ASM 9 and start a business with $1k?

    • Chris Fong says:

      Hi Alan,

I would say so. I’ve seen people who have had success starting their Amazon FBA business with even less than $1k. A $1k budget is certainly enough to get some samples and some limited quantity of units of your product created and shipped. Where ASM9 is really going to help you out is giving you all the steps you need to follow in an easy to digest way.

  • Junefrey says:

First of all thanks for the thoughtful and thorough review about ASM. So as an aspiring/starting entrepreneur, I am not going to ask for the length of the return of investment rather I’ll ask how much will it cost me in implementing the action steps in every module?

Does ASM has a backend product like you need to purchase before you continue in the next module or you need to buy in order to get things right?

    How about advertising for ranking?

So to sum it up. How much do I need more to invest besides $3,997? If there is can you list it down for us readers

    ASM – $3997
    First Product order – $?
    JungleScout & ManageByStats – $?
    Inventory/Storage fee – $?
    Referral & Closing fee – $?
    Advertising – $?

Thanks in advance and much be appreciated.

    • Chris Fong says:

      Hi Junefrey,

Great questions! So once you get access to ASM, there’s no additional upsells or anything to utilize the course.

In terms the other Amazon FBA costs itself, it really depends on what type of product you end up selling. So its hard to give an estimate for that. For us, we were able to get started on a $1k budget. Advertising costs really depend on your budget and what you’re willing to spend.

Jungle Scout and ManageByStats are not required, and optional to succeed. But as an ASM member, you do get a 45 day free trial to Jungle Scout. I think they have a trial for ManageByStats too but I don’t remember what it is off the top of my head.

  • Mahendra says:

    Hey Chris!

First of all it’s a good news for all of us that Amazon has hit the market value of $ 1Trillion.

ASM 9 is now open and I was planning to join in but I have a few questions which you can answer!

I heard about ASM way back in 2017 but I could not join at that time due to the large upfront investment of $3997.

Now I have convinced my father and he is giving me $7000 to start this Amazon FBA business.

So, considering the price of $3997 of ASM, I’m left with $3000 for all inventory, shipping, Advertising etc. And I can only invest more money in this business only if I make profit.

So I wanna know that can I start this business with $7000 in my pocket and make profit before placing the next inventory order?

I also wanna know that can I do this business from New Delhi, India?

    • Chris Fong says:

Hi Mahendra. $3k for inventory and other expenses is plenty to start out with. We started out with $1k in the beginning, so you should be fine there. ASM walks you through everything step by step, which will help you limit your mistakes and minimize your costs.

And yes, you can do business from India. According to ASM, India is considered a Group One country, so you should be able to setup a Seller Central account in the US. There’s people in the forums from all different places in the world, so you should be able to find plenty of help there as well.

    • Hello Mahendra. Even I am from India and joining ASMX.

  • Kevin says:

    Hi Chris!

My name is Kevin. I bought the ASM course through your affiliate link last night. Thank you for offering a bonus with the course and I look forward to working with you!

  • samira says:

hI Chris would love to do this as I have the drive but I run a non for profit and have no upfront money. If I can borrow money do they support people in australia

    • Chris Fong says:

Hi Samira. I would be reluctant to tell anyone to borrow money to purchase any course. In most situations, I don’t think that would be wise. Remember, you need to invest money in ASM itself and the up-front money necessary to launch your product. But to answer your question, Australia is a group 1 country so can certainly do Amazon FBA from there.

  • Ana says:

    Hi Chirs,

I want to start selling on Amazon with the help of AMSX. I plan to do it in spring. I suppose then it will be another chance to purchase AMSX. I live in Europe, can I sell on the Australian market? Best, Ana

    • Chris Fong says:

      Hi Ana,

Yeah, ASM X might be open by then, or they may be launching ASM 11 by that time. I assume as a European you can sell on the Australian market. But I’m not 100% sure honestly.

  • hi Chris,
    Thanks for sharing this.
I had wanted to start Amazon FBA for a while but don’t have the working knowledge of it.
In fact, it is a lot difficult to cut through the bush of information available online about Amazon FBA.
I am signing up immediately for the course.
thanks once again for the great work.

  • I am very impressed ASM 10 free training videos but its so much high cast program and hard to join for low budget peoples

  • Abdul majid says:

I just Signed up for the 2020 challenge I’m going all-in. Amazon is not anymore a buy low sell high stuff its about branding.

I’ve already picked an item but let see what we get inside the challenge
